Why is MOV to MP4 conversion so fast?: Most MOV files already hold H.264 video, which is exactly what MP4 uses. When the codec already fits the target container, the tool repackages the streams without re-encoding, so it is near instant even for large files.
Does converting lose quality?: Repackaging is lossless. The original video and audio streams are copied as they are. Re-encoding happens only when it is required, for example when the source codec is not allowed in the target container.
Does my video get uploaded anywhere?: No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser using the WebCodecs API. Nothing leaves your computer.
