Does my audio get uploaded anywhere?: No. Recording happens in the browser and the file is written on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
What format is the recording?: WAV, uncompressed, so it works in every editor. If you need a smaller file, run it through the free audio converter to get M4A or OGG.
Is there a length limit?: No, but WAV files grow about 10 MB per minute, so long sessions get large.
The recorder cannot find my microphone. What do I do?: Check the mic permission for this site next to your browser's address bar, and make sure no other app is holding the microphone. On macOS, also allow your browser under System Settings, Privacy and Security, Microphone.
Is this voice recorder free?: Yes. No signup, no watermarks, no limits. Use it as much as you want.
