Which directions can I rotate?: 90 degrees clockwise, 180 degrees, or 270 degrees, which is a quarter turn counterclockwise. For 90 and 270 the width and height swap, which is expected for a quarter turn.
Is the rotation baked in?: Yes. The pixels themselves are re-encoded in the new orientation. Some tools only set a rotation flag in the file's metadata, which some platforms and players ignore. A baked-in rotation shows correctly everywhere.
Does rotating lose quality?: Rotating re-encodes the video, which is what makes the rotation stick. As with any re-encode there is a small generational loss, but it is rarely noticeable.
Does my video get uploaded anywhere?: No. Rotation happens entirely in your browser using the WebCodecs API. Nothing leaves your computer.
